Nexus’11 was a great success and we couldn’t have done it without our speakers, attendees, customer partners, vendors and staff. We received an overwhelmingly positive response throughout and at the conclusion of the conference. Nexus 2011 Dates and Theme Announced

The theme of the Nexus 2011 ECM Solutions Conference, sponsored by ImageSource, is “Where ideas eMerge”, inspired by the synergy and ideas about Enterprise Content Management that were generated at the 2010 conference. If You’re New to Nexus®…

If you have never been to Nexus®, let me be the first to tell you that it is a must-see show. I have worked on the past three Nexus shows, and I have to say, each year gets better and better.

Nexus is an Enterprise Content Management Solutions Conference held in Bellevue, Wash. typically in the fall. Nexus has attendees from all over the country and vendors from some of the largest companies, including Fujitsu, IBM, Kodak, Panasonic and more.

Nexus is a great show for anyone to attend who wants to streamline their business processes. There are three tracks to be sure that everyone from those with little to no knowledge to advanced attendees get the most out of the conference. It doesn’t matter if you have been familiar with ECM for 20 years or two weeks, Nexus will bring huge value.

I can only talk so much about how great this conference is. So if you have never attended, I highly recommend checking out some of the presentations and videos from Nexus ’10 to get a feel for the conference.

You Saw it First at Nexus

If you were fortunate enough to be in attendance at Nexus ’10 this November, you had several “I was the first to see” moments.
Every year we go to several of our Customer Partners and interview them on video to try to capture the essence of their ECM solution. When I say essence, I don’t just mean the technical explanation. There is also an emotional story. People are relieved, proud and excited to see their cumbersome processes become automated and more accurate. Often, new processes are created where there was nothing before. If you were at Nexus, you were the first to see these Success Stories: National Frozen Foods, San Jose State University and Ceridian.
Another first was the ECM Show, an alternative to the ordinary case study panel. A spoof on the late night show format, the ECM show had plenty of humor, adding a new dimension to the valuable content provided by several of our Customer Partners: Washington State Employment Security Department, First Interstate Bank and San Jose State University.
On the technical front, several key products were unveiled that highlight where the future of ECM is heading. Last year’s I-saw-it-first-at-Nexus product was ILINX Capture, a web based capture product, that enables capture any where, any time. Complete with complex workflow capabilities, ImageSource felt there was a need for a lean, easy-to-use storage and retrieval system to complement ILINX Capture. Hence, ILINX Content Store was developed and featured at Nexus ‘10. (See the National Frozen Foods video mentioned above.)
In perhaps the most dramatic product to be revealed was ImageSource’s new ILINX Tablet, the first tablet device geared to the business community. The ILINX Tablet was shown at Nexus ’10 with ILINX Content Store loaded and operational, indicating one of the most obvious progressions in the industry today—mobile ECM.

Dr. James T. Brown Invited Back to Nexus 2011

This week I sent a letter to Dr. James T. Brown of SEBA Solutions thanking him for presenting at our Nexus ECM Solutions conference in 2010 and inviting him to return in 2011. I know many of this year’s attendees will be happy with the possibility of having him back as the evaluations were filled with comments of “Excellent”, “Great Speaker” and “Fabulous”. There were also many more detailed responses. Some of my favorites include:

“Simply one of the best speakers / presentations I’ve ever heard in 30+ years in IT.”

“Exceptional speaker and storyteller. I really enjoyed the interweaving of stories in the subject of change management. Very knowledgeable and engaging”

“Dr Brown is an exceptional speaker. His insights are very relevant and helpful. Would definitely like to hear more from him.”

And my absolute favorite…

“I had to pee really bad but I tortured myself so I could hear what he had to say.”

For those of you who didn’t attend, Dr. Brown gave a powerful Keynote presentation on Change Management and provided an intriguing approach to a topic that ImageSource feels strongly about. It was an energetic, thought-provoking way to start the day!

Dr. Brown also provided a full day pre-conference presentation on Risk Management and he spoke again on Risk Management during a breakout session. Although abbreviated from the full day, this session was still packed with informative information and key learning objectives for PMI Certified Project Managers earning PDU’s, C-Level attendees and anyone else in attendance.

Although we haven’t decided on the topic, Dr. Brown is sure to bring another compelling presentation to Nexus 2011.
